Meet Landrie!

Many affectionately call her Teencie.

We have been honored to serve Landrie and her family for a couple of years now while she fought Myelodysplastic Syndrome. One thing we know is that once a child receives a cancer diagnosis, the impacts of that diagnosis are forever. We always HOPE that they are minimal, and really HOPE for none. We know that Landrie knows well some of these impacts. We acknowledge that she still deals with many negative impacts of her diagnosis and treatment. We think that there is value in acknowledging these challenges. While that is true, we also like to cling to HOPE!

Landrie has reached some wonderful milestones in her journey and we want to celebrate those!! We will be highlighting one of those here.

This Spring, Landrie celebrated her 3 year transplant anniversary! This is sometimes called a Re-Birthday and is celebrated as another birthday for those that have had a stem cell transplant.

FOX 4 has followed Landrie Lay's health journey since 2019.

They captured so beautifully when Landrie met her stem cell transplant donor, Philip. Check it out below:

One thing that the Lay family is passionate about is bringing awareness to childhood cancer, and one aspect of that is sharing about bone marrow donation and the impact it has made.

Read below about how you can become a stem cell donor with DKMS

Once we are notified that you have been identified as the patient’s best match we will immediately notify you.

From now on, every day counts – because in many cases, patients need their stem cell transplants to happen as soon as they possibly can.

We will schedule an hour-long information session to speak to you in detail to help prepare you for your bone marrow or stem cell donation. We will discuss all the risks and benefits of donating and provide the details on what to expect throughout the process.

Please bring your questions! Our workup team of experts will be with you every step of the way, giving guidance and assistance whenever you need it. Our trained staff will work closely with you to take care of all the logistical arrangements - be it for your travel to the collection center, any necessary hotel bookings, or documentation for your employer. A designated contact will be available at all times to answer your questions about stem cell donation.

For us, it’s crucially important to know that as a future donor you feel safe, informed, and cared for.

Jennifer was able to meet up with Landrie’s mom Lindsay for lunch to celebrate Lindsay’s birthday. This was such a blessing for Jennifer to be able to connect with Lindsay, and deliver their Easter Brave Box! As you can imagine, when following a sweet little one like Landrie on her journey, you begin to grow and love her family. We have been cheering her on and doing our best to Show Love to Landrie, her siblings, and her parents. Recently, Landrie’s older sister had her 1st baby! What a sweet time!

Thank you Lay family for allowing us to share your story, and the story of Landrie and how this journey has impacted you all. We love how your family has taken a terrible diagnosis and been intentional about finding Hope, Love and Joy. We are cheering each of you on! We are so honored to be able to support you in a small way.

Landrie, We are encouraged by You!

You can follow Landrie’s journey and cheer her on with us. We will continue to serve the family and look forward to continuing to cheer her on! #Teencietough #TeamTeencie
